Daily Bread-N-Foods: A Legacy of Innovation and Quality
The story of Daily Bread-N-Foods is one of tradition, innovation, and a passion for quality that spans generations. It all began in 1951 with Shahbehram Khodiyar Atai, a visionary from Iran who set up Aryan Bakery in the bustling city of Mumbai, then known as Bombay. His journey in the world of baking was marked by a commitment to offering premium quality products, and introduced sandwich bread for the first time in India. He became the president of All India Bakers association and The Bombay bakers association for several years. This legacy continued to grow when he established Daily Bread-N-Foods in 1986, along with his son, Shahriyar Atai.
The name “Daily Bread-N-Foods” was inspired by a simple yet profound prayer: “Oh Lord, give us this day our daily bread…” This sentiment encapsulates the essence of what the bakery stands for—a daily offering of fresh, healthy, and consistently high-quality bakery products. Located in Worli, Mumbai, the bakery quickly gained a reputation for its premium offerings, delivered fresh daily to various institutions, hotels, flight kitchens, schools, and caterers across the city.
Shahbehram Atai was not just a skilled baker; he was an entrepreneur with a deep sense of hospitality. These qualities were passed on to his son, Shahriyar, who took over the reins of the business in 1988. Shahriyar’s journey into the world of baking was marked by his education at the Central Food Technological Research Institute (CFTRI) in Mysore, a reputed bakery institute. His training was further enriched by hands-on experience with master bakers from around the world.
Armed with knowledge and a fresh perspective, Shahriyar returned to Mumbai with a wealth of ideas. One of his early innovations was simple yet impactful—creating triangular sandwich bread. “You cut sandwiches into triangles from two slices of bread,” he reasoned. “So, why not make triangular sandwich bread and do away with the cutting?” This idea, like many others that followed, was a hit, marking the beginning of a new era for Daily Bread-N-Foods.
Under Shahriyar’s leadership, Daily Bread-N-Foods expanded its product range, introducing a variety of breads and bakery products made with healthy ingredients. Shahriyar’s commitment to quality was reflected in his investment in the most modern machinery, ensuring that every product met the high standards set by the bakery. Today, Daily Bread-N-Foods is a trusted name among hotels, restaurants, hospitals, schools, and colleges in Mumbai.
The brand, easily recognized by the friendly chef logo on its packaging, has become synonymous with quality, reliability, and affordability. But Daily Bread-N-Foods is more than just a bakery—it represents a legacy of passion for good taste and innovation. This passion has also led to the creation of new ventures under its banner, including the popular Bhonu Appetite, which offers authentic Parsi cuisine and catering services for various segments.
Daily Bread-N-Foods continues to honor the values instilled by Mr. Shahbehram Atai while embracing new ideas and innovations. As it grows, the bakery remains dedicated to providing daily nourishment to its customers, staying true to the prayer that inspired its name.

**"A Taste of Tradition, Wrapped in Delight"**
**Introduction:**
In the heart of Maundy Thursday, as the world prepares for Easter, I embarked on a delightful journey with Daily Bread's Hot Cross Buns. These golden orbs, adorned with their signature cross, promised more than just sustenance—they whispered stories of tradition, warmth, and the joy of shared moments.
**Appearance:**
The buns arrived like miniature suns, their golden crusts glistening under the morning light. The cross etched into each bun stood proud, a symbol of faith and unity. As I unwrapped them, the aroma of cinnamon and nutmeg danced around me, inviting me to partake in this sacred treat.
**Texture and Taste:**
With a gentle tear, the buns revealed their tender crumb. Soft, yet resilient, they yielded to my touch. Each bite was a revelation—a symphony of flavors. The spices played their part: cinnamon hummed, nutmeg chimed, and the faint zest of orange lingered. The currants, plump and sweet, added a delightful surprise. And oh, that cross! It was more than mere decoration; it held the promise of resurrection.
**Packaging:**
The packaging was more than practical—it was an invitation to slow down, savor, and appreciate life's simple pleasures. A nod to tradition, a whisper of love.
**Conclusion:**
As I savored the last crumbs, I realized that Daily Bread's Hot Cross Buns were more than a pastry; they were a connection to centuries past. They carried the warmth of family gatherings, the sweetness of shared laughter, and the hope of renewal. So, here's to Daily Bread N Foods—for crafting not just buns, but memories.
*Unique, vibrant, and utterly delightful—these buns are a testament to the magic of tradition.*

1. Food packed and presented nicely.
2. Quantity of food is good.
3. Food quality is good.
Dishes :
1. Chicken Kheema Pattice : Honestly, one of the best I have had. Must try.
2. Chicken Berry Pulao with Dhansak : I usually don't like dhansak, but this was an exception. The dhansak was good, the kebabs were as authentic parsi as they get and the pulao was lovely too.
3. Chicken Salli boti: The sauce was absolutely spot on tangy, sweet, spicy. The chicken pieces though were dry. Also, I don't know if they forgot or they don't serve it, but there was no salli!
4. Atheli Murgi: Major disappointment.. they served something like a heavy gravy version of sweet Butter Chicken.
5. Chicken Kheema par Eedu: This was nice, layered pao, kheema and egg..
6. Lagan nu custard : Nice, but I missed the browning of the crust on top. Flavours spot on.
7. Bread pudding : Nice.
Anyways apart from the Atheli murgi, all flavours were basically spot on. Also, they surely didn't cheap out on ingredients, quantity or packaging (unlike so many other establishments today). And they paid attention to the small things, like the cute small paos, the little onion, tomatoes kachumber etc..
